Etymology
Merkurium's
name originates from Mercury, who was the messenger
of the gods. It represents communication, information
and exchange. Mercury also serves as a "unique" temperature
indicator, being the only metal which is liquid at
room temperature.
Merkurium is spelt with a k for Kilobyte, to remind
us of the thousands of bytes of information we process!
Company History
In
1998, after five years of graduate studies and more
than ten years of professional experience in the area
of information technology, France Senécal
founded the company Merkurium. From the beginning,
the objective of Merkurium was to improve the overall
performance of companies, by simplifying access to
their strategic information. Merkurium began designing
top-of-the-line management information systems, such
as performance indicator systems and data
warehouses
.
For business, these applications are now combined
in a new product called Uperform Business, a comprehensive
performance tracking and data management system, for
the business and government sectors.
In the education sector, version-2 of Skopus was launched
in spring 2004. Skopus is modular software which provides
access and analysis capabilities to performance indicators
in a school board. It provides immediate benefits with
easy access to strategic information that facilitates
performance tracking against school and student objectives.
Skopus now includes a module that supports the School
Success Planning process and a Web portal for parents.
Today with the success of Skopus, Merkurium continues
to grow and improve its products with the latest technological
innovations.
